    This is one I learned a long time ago.

    What you do is mix a small amount of transmission fluid with an equal amount of ACETONE

    The acetone helps percolate the transmission fluid into the joint, and the transmission fluid breaks up corrosion and lubricates.

    *Marvel Mystery Oil can be used in place of trans fluid, and the acetone evaporates after a while

      Ive never heard that one i always use liquid wrench i will give it a shot the next time i have rusty parts!

        There was a link I found a while back that showed penetrating fluid works basically because it's really thin oil. And so after testing it was found that thinned vegetable oil works just as well as anything.

        Now I use veg oil and kerosene. Stays mixed for months and smells surprisingly like PB blaster. Hmmmmmmm. lol
        Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

          Veg oil and solvent is what I spray on the underside of the car each fall for rust protection. Canola oil. Cheap. Environmentally friendly.
          For penetrating I've been using used motor oil and solvent. Cheap.
          I like Grey's suggestion and must try it as I have some of both on hand.

          While we're on the subject, once the air runs out in a spray can of WD-40, Liquid Wrench, etc. there's still some liquid in the bottom of the can. I tap 2 holes in the top with a nail and pour what's left into a jar. Can be applied with a small brush or even a toothpick.
