  • Rubber washer behind locks

I ordered a box containing an assortment of rubber washer on ebay and they arrived today.
In the box of 725 pieces, there are 75 pieces that are 30x24x2 mm.
These fit great behind the locks. On the gas door (fake lock), you have to bend the little tabs out more
so they will lock in place but once you do that the mechanism hold in better than ever.
The tabs on the real locks fit a little more snugly but no modification is necessary there.

Here is the link to the ebay item I ordered:

That's Great! I have never found a good replacement, everything I've tried has dry rotted in a few months.
Let us know how they hold up!
    No car too fast !

Can you get teflon o-rings locally?

Not even. Could see if Rocket Seals carries something. Teflon will be pricy though...

It would be nice to make a die to precisely cut out lock washers.
One die could cut out thousands.

We buy a roll of the stuff for a vaccum pump of ours. It takes 4 hollow teflon o-rings around the main shaft. However because its supported fully around the outside by metal you can just cut a strip and as long as its the perfect length and cut perfectly square it seals.
I dont recall it being that expensive, but an o-ring would have to cost a lot to be worth more than your time replacing them every year...
