Presumably the pickup in the distributor is okay along with the ignition control module to initiate the voltage drop in the coil which produces the "spark" at the distributor, but it's not being passed along to the spark plugs. Sort of points to the cap and rotor?

I haven't had time to test anything for a couple days.
      Greatly appreciated.

In what way did your distr. fail then, as his may have the same condition? The dist contains the "trigger" (switch) for the ICM but does not generate the strength of the spark. It seems that it could only be intermittent or totally failed. Even one triggered spark event should make it to a spark plug.
When I'm good I'm very, very good and when I'm bad I'm HORRID.

Im not sure. I had spark but the car wouldnt run which is why i couldnt figure it out. My neighbour stopped by when i was working on it in my driveway and diagnosed it as the distributor in like 30 seconds. I replaced the distributor and it ran perfect. I never really looked into why. I thought it was a camshaft sensor thing. But i really dont know.
If he sets up a meeting with tominmo they should be able to figure it out pretty quick though.

            *****UPDATE*****

Hey guys, I have been busy at work the last few days. Again, thank you to everyone for the awesome tips.

I replaced the distributor tonight and it fired right up.

I still get the check engine/every icon on dash displaying and it still buzzes just the same when key is in ON position. Maybe it will turn off after a few miles?

I am so glad you guys mentioned the potential for camshaft lobe damage caused by my Aspire rocker arms.
I really want to drive it to work but I'm not going to.

I have a spare brand new Festiva rocker arm but it is the wrong side. (it slants the opposite way I need.)

            Question...
As far as I can tell the Aspire rocker arm shaft that I replaced is identical to the original Festiva shaft. I know the picture doesn't look it though.

              Thats great news!
For the check engine light if your gonna replace the rocker shafts wait till after that and then disconnect the neg battery terminal, turn headlight on. Turn headlights off and reconnect battery. Fire it up and take it for a drive long enough to get up to operating temp. If the lights still on check the code and let us know what it is.
