  • Speedometer gear change?

Does anyone know the necessary speedometer gear correction when changing to 13 (175-70-13) or 14 (175-65-14)inch wheels and tires. Or has anyone had any experience with those 165-70-12 Nanking tires. I am a little suspicious of untried tires, but they look okay. Thanks.

Logically it should be proportional to the change in circumference of the tires.

Neither of those are sizes you want to run on a Festiva. 165/65-13 or 165/55-14 would be what you want and not have much effect on the speedometer reading.

I've never seen a 75. 80's suck. 70's would be alright. I'm sure your opinion is a bit different though [emoji14]

165/55-14 is exactly the same overall diameter as stock 165/70-12.

Achilles ATR-K in 165/55-14 are less than 200 shipped for all 4. They perform great and are perfectly suited for a Festiva, especially on 14x6 wheels.

Hey, Thanks people. I hadn't considered the possibility of such a size. I have some Accent alloy wheels and think they are probably 14's. 165-55-14 sounds like the right way to go and I found at least 2 brands in that size. Iff I ever get around to it. THANKS. In the interim - How about those Nanking tires, anyone tried them? Now that our Yokohama's are extinct.

Yea, the Nankangs are not great, but they work. I wouldn't recommend them if 14s are an option

155/80R12. A little tall, but that was all that was available for around $50/ tire when I bought mine in 2016.
                        Yokohamas were $72 each.

Well all a 75 is for me is an 80 with 20 PSI. That or I flubbed the number and don't want to admit it....

Ok, even 10yrs ago no 165/70's were available locally here, just the 155's and 145's. I sort of really want to try the 165 70 other than i dont really plan on ever buying 12s again after experiencing the 14's... i just didnt know they were available.
And im not a fan of the 155 80 12 tires i have tried.
