Alternator putting out 39 amps

Is this normal for an FI Festiva? I was driving to work this morning and my charging light flickered a few times then came on steady. I took the battery and got her charged but it came back bad so I put a new one in. With my new battery in the dummy light doesn't come on but the Alternator is showing 39 amps at the battery.

Capri - 70amps
Escort GT/Protege - 65amps
626/Probe/MX6 -80amps

Will the 626/Probe/MX6 alternator plug in or is splicing needed?

the alternator is full fielding

it is time to replace it before it boils your battery to death

I did a quick google search it looks like full Fielding just means my regulator is bad?

it is an internal regulator

you can replace it if you don't mind the tear-down

Not really looking to try to replace it was just expanding my knowledge of automotive terms

P.S. Did you see my edit to ask a question about alternators up top? Any insight to offer?

i've found the 87-89 Mazda 323 had 60 amp alternators

just depends on any aftermarket equipment you've added on

i had a pinto when the alternator went bad it made my battery bulge it sides and the battery was hot.

so what alternator will swap right in without modification?!? or if minor mods are to be made, please list them also.

how about a new one, I hear they go right in easy, and will last you almost as long as the car :-)

Just pull one out of another festiva, or aspire, if your looking for a cheap quick fix
