  • Got no fuel..

95 Aspire/5 speed. Turns over great and will start with gas down the intake, the previous owner had that bright idea. I have 12+ volts to the fuel pump relay but no 12+ volts to the fuel pump. I can jumper it and get 12+ to the pump. Even with 12+ to the pump no gas even though I can hear it kick on. I'm going to pull the fuel pump to make sure the screen isn't clogged but to me it sounds like the fuel pump and relay are toast. What do you guys think? This is the first time i've had to mess with a fuel system on a Festiva/Aspire.

Normally the pump only comes on when the engine is cranked , If you put 12 volts to ,it and you still have no fuel , I would say the pump is toasted , or the filter is plugged .

What about that fuel shutoff inertia switch in back?

Checked it.. didn't have any voltage back there either. I'll try the fuel pump first then the relay.

No voltage there with the key on , or while being cranked ?

Moose ,he said he could here it run .

Remember Eric the pump won't run with just the key on ,It must be cranked over to power the pump .

Ah- missed the part with jumpered the pump direct.

In emergency, have blown comressed air back thru the line,
if I felt the intank filter or line plugged up.

Yeah I hooked up my air compressor to it. It stayed around 40psi.. I'm thinking that since it set with a almost empty tank the pump froze up. No rust in the tank though. The wires going to the pump in tank have some bare spots.. I guess i'm lucky it didn't blow up.
