Any auto repair store that is close to you call and ask if they rent tools. if they rent tools ask if they rent a fuel pressure gauge. if not check out www.harborfreight.com

You can hold an ignition wire about 1/4" from the block or body (ground) to see if there it a spark. Start with the wire at the centre of the distributor to see if there is spark from the coil, then pull each spark pl;ug and hold the bare wire or touch the plug itself to ground and see if there is a spark in the gap.

In the first post you said it will run for a bit then die ..
Does it still do that , or is it just totally dead now ??

            shes alive!!!

that was way too easy. i started off by replacing the air filter and pcv valve, i knew that wasnt the problem but it had to be done. Then i whent straight to the electrical... "what the?" the plugs were loose  and i mean not even finger tight. So i looked at them... they were chared black but ive seen worse. So i tightened them all up, and said waht the heck and gave it a go.. i wasnt expecting it to run but i was feeeling lucky. The thing fired right up!! so i took her out on her maden voyage, and what a hoot! Did i mention there was 5" of snow on the street?

I'm not a fan of lots of starter fluid, washes oil from the bores.

I've used a propane torch with a rubber hose if you got to test
to see if its bad pump, etc. Its higher in Octane too.
Just do this above freezing temps,so the Propane vaporizes.

Ford ECUs (maybe Mazda, too) will cut power to the pump
after a few seconds if one of the sensors don't detect rotation,
like you get from a normal running motor. Bad sensor might be
making it kill, but MAF or TP being goofed up, well normally
they won't start if really out of range.

Might try jumpering the pump at the relay to keep the pump going, and see if thats it, if it runs OK on Propane.
