I don't think there is a rev limiter on a carbed motor. I mean they could put a restrictor plate sandwhiched between the carb and head, which would keep it from being able to substain enough air over a certain RPM, but I doubt Ford wasted time on that.

Just because It has a carb doesn't mean there's no rev limiter.
I have a rev limiter on my hot rod and it has a carb.

there is NO limiter on the carbed festies except valve float. personally, my motor has seen the better side of 8000, but that's with a cam, springs and better coil.Trees aren't kind to me...

yup, the rev limiter is usually a function of the ignition system, BUT as in the case of my fiero, it also cuts out power to the fuel pump( or injector drivers, it's hard to tell) i do know fuel gets cut out somehow.Trees aren't kind to me...

i put an aftermarket tach in mine and the needle jumps at 6500 when its to the floor in neutral1993 5 speed FI. 2-5/8" tach, short throw, muffler delete. SOLD

I did notice that when trouble shooting an ignition problem in my 88, i swapped out the distro for another one and for some reason, the engine would cut out at about 6200. swapped in my old one and the limit dissapeared!!!???? the only thing i can figure is there's a disconnected wire in my old distro that's supposed to feed the ECU w/ info for spark cutout but i have yet to find solid evidence of this.Trees aren't kind to me...
