im about to buy another festiva. its a 1993 5-speed with A/C and 170k miles. the only thing i see wrong is that the timing chain cover is away from the block. i can see the cam gear. should this cause a problem? im planning to replace the cover and gasket when i buy it.

Shouldn't be a problem at all.
I once had a Festiva that came without a timing belt cover, and it ran fine.White '89L auto - Sold!

I just replaced one not to long ago....it seems that they begine to warp or something....the car I took it off of was starting to rub too....but all good now"FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

replaced many on my two...bad valve cover gasket leak causes it most of the time. if i see one in the junkyard i always buy a spare.
go to avance auto parts and ask for dust cover gaskets and it cost about $25.00Comment
