  • The B6T is alive!

As many of you know, I recently bought Chris's (Rumnhammer) B6T project Festiva. He had done most of the work tracking down or fabricating parts to set up this car, but the engine had never been fired up. He spent several years working on this car. The interior is completely out of it and the body has been completely gone over, ready for paint. All it really needs is paint and reassembly. His "for sale" post is on the forum if you want to check pictures out.

Well, ever since we got the car back here to NC, we have been dying to see if we could get the car fired up. Last weekend, Sam1956 and I went over the engine, checking everything out and filling it with fluids. We tried to fire it and ... it didn't happen.

It took some diagnosing as to what was wrong, why fuel was not getting to the engine. We replaced the fuel pump with one out of the car that was stripped at Festiva Madness II (see pics on the meet posting) and could see that fuel was getting to the injectors. Well...still wouldn't fire.

Thanks to advice from Nate (Skeeter's Keeper) on how to do it, we tested the injectors and they were not working, so we took the whole rail off an XR2 Capri parts car that I swapped Jonathan (KrayZFrameRate) a Festiva for and installed it on the B6T. We think that they were stuck from sitting for a couple of years.

With much help from Sam, we got everything back together and Sunday afternoon, we were ready to try to start it up again!

This time...SUCCESS!!!!! Yeah! Sweet! Awesome! Hooray! Grin!

Chris built an awesome engine. Compared to a stock Festiva, well, there is no comparison!

I must tell you, this is not really a street car. There is no play in the suspension or steering. There is no play in the clutch, it is race ready. And the turbo will knock you back in the seat when you take off. (Gotta get back to PA and get those seats from Simon!) Once it is back together, it could be a great sleeper. No one would expect a Festiva to take off like this one will.

We live on a quiet little street, so I ran it up the street and back a couple of times and then Sam tried it out and now she is parked back in the garage. It will be a while before the car is ready for the road as you will see from the video clips, but I intend for the car to be ready for Festiva Madness III in October.

We had to share the fun. These are a couple of clips from the first firing on Sunday:

    First Trip on the Street

Her name is NO PLAY...because she is all business!

Thanks to everybody for their help, advice, hard work and encouragement to get her fired up. I will post more as we work to get her back together. I hope Chris can come to the meet next year and drive her.

I think it will be weeks before anybody can wipe that "OMG Grin" off Dean's face! He spoke well when he said, "it's got un-Godly POWWWWERRR!" I drove it & have NEVER been slammed back in a seat the way I was in that car. Wow! Kudo's to Chris and a big "woooo hoooooo!" to Dean & Barbara! Thanks Skeeter for the injector test technique... owe you one, Bro!

Sweet work dude. I was really hoping the car was going to end up back on this forum, and I am glad you have it.

I'm green with envy. Our cars look so much smaller with the bumpers off too!

            Yeah!

Hey man, I couldn't be happier! now I'm jealous. That exhaust I made sounds really nice and nasty, just like I wanted it to. Now I can't wait to see it finished. I think I'll make a nice drive down to NC to take a drive in it.

I have rode in several turbo Festiva's and all I can say is Wow! I can't wait to do my B6T swap. It has been lingering for too long now, but I now have all the parts I want to do it the way I want to build it.
