well between the axles and chassis and gears ect, the tranny absorbs alot of the motor vibration on that side, i had the pass motor mount solid mounted also (see above pic) and when i changed it over to a rubber piece, i noticed a SUPER huge drop in vibration since that side is only the mount to dampen any vibrations.

      This does sound interesting.

How much weight do you think eliminating the crossmember saves?

It would be minus the crossmember weight, plus a little bit added on due to the solid MTX mounts.

If it saves at least 12 to 14 pounds, I'd say it's worth it, if you don't mind a bit more NVH than usual. What would you say?

i dit it more for loating the engine deeper into the bay and dropping the center of gravity more than weight savings, im not sure how much weight im losing, i doubt much since thats 1/4 inch plate you see in the pics, the tubing i believe is 14 gauge 1x1, realitively heavy stuff.

if i ever can get another car with good front bolts and a g25mr near my welder, i can duplicate these as a bolt-in kit for the bigger tranny users.

That rear mount scares me. No cross member is a great idea BUT with all the twisting torque it will be effecting those welds and the mount ALOT. I think its a good concept but I would rather see a poly mount or even a hard rubber mount with clean welds back there. Specially with no cross member, if and when that thing crack and breaks you engine is going to drop and I would expect many things to fail.

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

well im on year 2 of the mount setup almost with multiple hard launches (many at a strip) and wide tires, havent had any problems yet! every time ive replaced or done something to the car i have checked them and went over them multiple times to make sure they were solid, this latest mount is actually much stronger than the previous one i ran for a little over a year. ill get better pics of the front also soon.

Lowering the CG with a B6 and stock MTX is also one of my goals for "Speedstiva." If the weight loss is only 5 pounds that would still be good.

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
