Firstly, the car is now in my possession. Drove it 200kms home from where i bought it and it didnt miss a beat. Sat nicely on 100km/h on the freeway with 3 people on board ! Engine temp never went past about a 1/3, and economy seemed no too bad seeing as i managed to do those 200kms on under 1/2 a tank of petrol ---- the fuel tank is 38L, so im guessing i managed about 7.5L/100kms which seems not too bad? Definitely better than my other 'newer' car. Despite the lack of aircon, and no power steering i loved the drive home. My back was dripping with sweat (35 degrees outside!), the windows down with wind gushing in .... i loved every moment of it. lol The big test on how it goes will be commuting to and from work next week --- should go well.

Secondly .... ive received quite a few PM's about people wanting me to look for 121 parts / front grilles/lights. I WILL CHECK A FEW LOCAL WRECKERS and see what i can find, but it is quite time consuming and hard as i dont live near a major capital city. None the less, i'll do my best to find some stuff and will buy things i find if the price is right. Until then, I wont reply to any msgs asking me to buy stuff for you, or go get quotes at places 800kms away to shop back to the USA ---- sorry!

Thanks and thanks! When I get a Festiva, it probably won't be like the rest of my cars, that is nice inside and out. It'll be nice and clean but not filled with the top options from various different models like my other cars...I'm going for something I've wanted to do for a long time, a bare bones stripped to the absolute essentials interior, no A/C, no heat, no radio, no interior panels, no carpet, nothing but what's necessary to drive it.

Being MazKid, I'm buying a Festiva and driving a 121. I've gotta get the headlights, grill, rear emblem, and tail lights...It's a nice thing they did with these cars, making it rediculously simple to switch makes like that.

Just looking at the level of interest in purchasing 121a parts, I woud say there's a possible business opportunity here.

Sp33dy if you want any US parts let me know and we could work out an exchange. Also just fr your own info, you can put A/C in your car. There is a how to section in the articles forum here.

Cheers 25Horseplay, will keep it in mind. I'll try and find the time to get to a few wreckers for parts u guys might want (front end grill/headlights -- badges, etc) .
Ive done over 300kms since i picked it up yesterday - great on economy so far! Took this one last night.

Despite me saying i dont think i'll mod it , I put in a Kenwood cd/mp3 player i had lying around to replace the pov spec kenwood cd player that was in it. Thankfully the looms matched up so it was a simple plug and play procedure Am toying with the idea of better speakers but probably wont bother.

It's only a little bit smaller than my wagon lol

I cant help but giggle at size difference

I just love Mazda 121s; they look so much like a downsized 323!!!
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

You have one of those mini rear bumpers, sweet! I bet someone on here would be willing to trade you an A/C setup for a 121 front end.

I was curious if the center caps on your wheels say mazda on them instead of ford ?

That's why I want one so bad. Everyone tells me the 323 is so small...I want to get a Festiva with the 121 trim and see people's reactions.

I don't think our A/C would work. the dash is opposite ours. (RHD)

Yer, i dont think a US aircon would fit too well with the RHD thing ............ I dont want aircon anyway --- extra weight!

Yes, my wheel caps say MAzda on them.

Ive had the car 3 days, and am already looking into a B6 swap! LOL ... i think the bug has already bitten.

Seats were a no go without LOTS of fab work..... real pissy the stock seats have the rails incorporated into the main seat structure, and cant just be unbolted

BUT i did get a New leather bound steering wheel!! ... from a Mazda Astina/Lantis JDM model -- I think thats what it's from.

                              BEFORE ....

                              AFTER ....

The before and the after both look different but I like the after better. Not to mention all the other cool stuff.
