  • New Rear Bumper, and a Load of Rot!

I installed my new, black rear bumper today. Things went pretty well, except for my discovery of TONS of rot in the rebar. The whole passenger side is caved in. I also included a picture of the other side for comparison. I guess I need to hit the wreckers for a new one. Enjoy!

Rust like that is common on a lot of the rear bumper beams. You just dont see it under the skin. I looked a long time to find a good solid one.

Wow! That was pretty bad rot!

And I thought my rear metal bumper was nasty looking.

Yeah unfortunatley almost every single one has atleast surface rust at the very least specially if you drive it in the winter like yourself.

BTW your car looks good. I was going to ask if you painted the side molding. Then I remembered you were swapping the painted bumpers for the black ones and the painted molding is because its a GL. It looks good with the lower black two tone. Did you get those wheels from Ian ? Or do you both have the same ones ?

That is a Magnaflow polished stainless oval muffler. It's a straight through glasspack design, with 2.25" pipes in and out. I made the tip myself out of some leftover bits in the garage. I wish I had something other than stock pipes leading up to it.

I wish I would've known... I tossed my rust-free rear beam to the trash when I put on my ATH rear bumper... :\

I did this when I put my FMS Euro rear bumper and it is rust-free too.
