  • My Crazy Idea

Packrat's trailer hitch gave me a crazy idea. I want to get a cheap parts car and hack off everything from the doors forward, bolt a tongue to it, take out the seats and dash, and build a platform where the front seats were, then put a mattress and other goodies in it, thus creating a teardrop camper sized trailer to pull behind my Festiva. Without an engine, trans or gas tank, I imagine it would be pretty light, but maybe an Aspire swap on the tow vehicle would be a good idea anyway.

Here's my MSPaint preliminary rendering, using pictures of my two Festivas:

    Festivas past:
    Aqua '92 Festiva L - Sold "Dale"
White '89 Festiva L Plus - RIP "Dudley"
White '93 Festiva GL - Sold to thisvelologist "Frito"
Red '91 Festiva L - Sold to Louieisawesome "Geraldo"

    Current Fleet:
Aqua '93 Festiva L with Aspire brakes "Dale Jr."
Black and White '93 Festiva GL Sport (White alloys and spoiler are long gone) "Blues-tiva"
    White '15 Ford Transit Connect

With the rear wheels being that far back you may have alot of tonque weight on the tow vehicle.

That's soooo... tempting, Marcus. Now if I just had a place to store it. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait a few months until after I graduate and get a real job and a place to live that's not the dorm or my parent's house.

Marcus get me 2 of those shells and we will take the back halfs of both and weld them together, but we could take a majority of a door and section and weld that in too if we needed more room. It I'll open on both ends, and have pull out tables on some custom tracks to serve food on. We could even make a gulwing door on one of the sides and throw in a 55 gallon drum cut in half and make a BBQ out of it. Then we could pull it to Ohiostive 08!
