^^+1. Those seem to come up for sale from one police department or another all the time around here. If it wasn't for the fuel economy, they would be pretty awesome. Used to have a Caprice Classic, not an ex police car, but man would that thing scoot.

I have had a couple Panther Vics, and 4 Panther Town Cars... IMO, one of the best full size platforms available. The 4.6 isn't super powerful or anything, but they run forever, are easy to work on, parts are dirt cheap and available everywhere..

Good cars.. around here, ex Cincinnati Squads, with about 100K sell for $2000-2500 and are well worth it, but I would rather have a black one, as pictured... ours are white...

We have an auction here this Saturday, but I will be out of town... couple nice ones this month

Have had 6 Festys... and counting...

Chrysler and GM used to use letters to designate their platforms. ie Dodge Aries and Plymouth Reliant- K Cars, or Chevy Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire- J Cars. Ford used to use animals do designate their platforms. ie Fox Body Mustang and Panther Platform. (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Town Car.) It's been a couple years since I got rid of my Town Car, but Crownvic.net is another good panther forum.

My dad got 29 higway mpg in his 92 crown vic (loaded touring sedan) and has gotten 28 highway mpg in his 05 grand marquis. I read somewhere that there was no difference in the drivetrain on the police package??!!

It is the same engine and trans. There are more oil and trans coolers and the trans is programmed with higher shift points. There is a available limited slip rear end
