Some specific diff's that I know about...
The instrument cluster plastic surround (bezel) from the 88-89 is incompatible with the later models. The clearance area for the steering column is shaped differently. Don't ask how I know this.
And the lower dash area just to the left of the console area on the 88-89's doesn't have the fixed metal brace that the later models have.
Seems that the speedo cable for the auto trans (ATX) models is shorter than those for the manual trans (MTX). The cables also appear to be a tad different as far as the end (the screw-on barrel at the transmission end of the cable.
If you change from a non-tach cluster to a tach cluster, you WILL have to re-route the speedo cable out of the center brace of the dash panel and to the right of the brace. Else it will be way too short to connect into the new instrument cluster.
