Some specific diff's that I know about...

The instrument cluster plastic surround (bezel) from the 88-89 is incompatible with the later models. The clearance area for the steering column is shaped differently. Don't ask how I know this.

And the lower dash area just to the left of the console area on the 88-89's doesn't have the fixed metal brace that the later models have.

Seems that the speedo cable for the auto trans (ATX) models is shorter than those for the manual trans (MTX). The cables also appear to be a tad different as far as the end (the screw-on barrel at the transmission end of the cable.

If you change from a non-tach cluster to a tach cluster, you WILL have to re-route the speedo cable out of the center brace of the dash panel and to the right of the brace. Else it will be way too short to connect into the new instrument cluster.

Seats from 89-89 are different than later years. Mainly due to the auto Vs manual belts. They arent a direct swap.

i've known about that difference for about 5-6 years now and since i don't drive the car anymore i'll say how i know  i wrecked the 89 we had and the parts car (90 LX) became the new daily driver with swapped VIN, but according to the paper work the 89 got a "paint job" with a different colour, it was a quick and temporary fix that worked

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Sam, tell me about that Grant steering wheel. I was actually looking at buying one very similar. I had one on one of my mustangs and absolutely loved it. Any mods to make that wheel work?
