      P&W evidently did some pretty clever "modular engineering" in that the crankcase sections could be bolted together to provide additional cylinder banks for more displacement. I believe that the R-4360 was created that way, from a smaller displacement variant (R-2800??), by attaching 2 more crankcase sections. Interesting how the crankcases are rotated a few degrees to get cooling air back to the rearward cylinder banks. Also interesting that radial engines ALWAYS have an odd number of cylinders in a single bank, due to the mechanically controlled "skip a cylinder" plug firing sequence. (R-4360 has 4 banks of 7 cylinders.)

      Can you imagine having to design such a monsterous engine?
