Serious note, that looks like a brown recluse to me, a very dangerous poisonous little jerk. I'd be rid of that pest ASAP.

They cannot negotiate smooth surfaces and are often found in bathtubs and sinks, unable to escape.

          What camera you got?
I was hoping someone would ask. Ready to laugh? That is my old work horse. The camera that's been to a hundred junk yards. The only camera I have ever owned. The only camera I have used to make money on ebay, craigslist, ff.com, fa.com, feoa, etc etc. Now for the funny part. The outer lens is GONE. After all the abuse I put it through it started to take hazy, "glamor shot" looking photos. I took out the outer lens to see if I could polish it and it melted because it is plastic. but up close it takes pics that look like macro photography. I have a VERY shallow field of focus. 1-2 mm maybe? But it is super fun. I have to take a bunch of pics to get good ones. The assassin bug was moving so much I couldn't get a good photo. I put him in the freezer for about45 seconds. he got real still . Then I put him on the quarter and about a foot below and incandescent light bulb. I love that broken old 3.2 megapixel fuji finepix. Look at that postage stamp sized screen.

            Freshtiva,
My mistake, I read the title and saw "Genevadirt" and just immediately thought that Geneva had post it this.
So this is in Missouri, I feel better!
Is that a common size for spiders there?
FestivaWES do you see anything like that around you?

              Carbon,
I never laugh at something that works so well, no matter what it may look like!
Agree with focal field, you can see parts of the quarter in focus.
I have an old 2.1 MP Nikon and it has a nice Macro, but I don't think it can focus as close as yours.

But, your pics above do beg the question, if that is the only camera you've ever owned, who's camera are you using to take pics of your camera?:p

Pu421, I live in rural Missouri and yes, that's not uncommon near me. In fact I found a black widow under the rail of the pool when I opened it this Spring. I kill funnel spiders about the size of silver dollars all the time in the less mowed parts of the property. Usually they have huge egg sacs on their abdomens and when you smack them the sac bursts open and a million tiny spiders scatter everywhere. For someone like me who is not a fan of spiders, it's the stuff of nightmares.

I still have one functional outer lens. I'd like to get a couple glass lenses the right size. I doubt I can find that though.

I assumed you were thinking it was Genevas post. Yes I do see spiders this big pretty regularly during the summer. Ive seen several bigger then this one. I think they are interesting. Once I was sitting outside with a friend of mine talking about going to a concert and a spider about the size of this one came across the walk. I pointed it out to my friend and about the same time he saw it a skink came running up and grabbed it. The fight was on. My buddy and I watched it for like 30 seconds until the skink finally got the spider in its mouth and took off. My friend and I justed looked at each other thinking was that for real and then started laughing about it. Not something you see every day. It was like two dinosaurs fighting in an old horror movie. It was mortal combat and the skink won.

That's some funny camera talk. I haven't laughed as much as I did when I read your explanation of your pics in a long time. Your comedic timing is perfect.

I'd be breeding and importing skinks, large ones, like there was no tomorrow!
I'm not a fan of our arachnid friends, but if they're outside I leave them be!
Inside, that's my domain, I will try to assist them outside, but if I found one that size I can assure you I would not be putting my hand anywhere near it!
