  • Old Red update Thread #2

I did some more work on Old Red this weekend, and got some more parts.

Just some pics before the work started

Old Red and my other car (1993 Mustang LX) Haven't touched the stang since I got Old Red....

Put the car on jackstands and removed the front wheels/tires to remove the rusty old brakelines

Painted the calipers (I'll paint over the black with red later on)

    Rust repair still isn't done

Then I took the rear bumper off, I still can't believe how much dirt/junk fell out of it!

And I now have a full set of 12" trim rings thanks to Lanemeyer14 I bought 3 from him, and the car came with 1

I also bought a 88-89 style grill that i'll be modifying

And hopefully sometime soon I'll be getting some parts off my friends dad's festivas.
    Like the:
    Hatch off this 89 LX

    Split rear seat?

Seats out of this 88 or 89 and the manual seatbealts, headliner, interior trim to complete the swap out of that car or the LX.

I'm also going to get the side molding off the LX, and the power mirrors.

That rear bumper bar is TOUGH, at least when not rusted...mine took about a twenty mph hit by an isuzu impulse and did not get hurt except a slight pucker...wish the quarter panel was the same...it crinkled like a coke can!

You're doing an awesome job on getting Old Red back to life! Congrats on the work!!! I'm definitely envious! I wish I had that gray hatch with the wiper... that matches my car perfectly! Wanna swap for on w/out a wiper?! LOL

Yes it's basically a parts car, it's my friends dad's car (the guy I bought Old Red from) I think the panels are in bad shape, but I'll check when I go there to get parts for you. I might even have a picture of the door panels.

          Found 2 interior pics

As you can see the interiors not so great...

you need to adress the driver side caliper. it appears that it's not activating properly (lots of rust, and a small ring of clean rotor) address the sliders first (easiest) and then check the function of the caliper piston.

                  Safety First.
                  Trees aren't kind to me...

                  currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Yes I know, I'm going to check over all the brakes before driving it.

Nope, I wouldn't have bought the 12" trim rings if I was.....

Yeah, I'm just gonna stick with the stock stuff, and paint the stock steelies black.
