The body and interior and under hood too nice to be a donor...nice car! Looks nicer than the ZX2 I bought two years old!

Im going to try and get it fixed and keep it whole. It too nice to part out. Sparky, its a 1993 GT. Its got lots of goodies. I called a guy Im always getting festiva parts from( he knows all about my festiva addiction) and told him I wanted to check on some Escort parts and he said "Excuse me, there must be something wrong with my phone, could you repeat that ? I thought you said Escort."

        Bonus goodie

^ Oh I think I might notice that.

Anyone know what tranny this car has in it ? I might start looking around for one.

Thanks Jim , would that be the same tranny that is in most escorts that year ? Would this one work ?

that one won`t work, it'll only work with the 1.9 or the 2.0 tpi engines. it has to be the g25mr tranny that has the BP 1.8 bolt pattern (all mazda b series motors have the same pattern). you should be able to use one out of a capri xr2 or 91-94 protege lx, although i`m not sure if you can convert a hydro clutch to cable or vise versa.

try putting a festiva tranny in there! :-) it will bolt up to the motor but the mounts will be off a little. the longer gears would be nice for mileage, but i`m not sure how long it would last with the extra weight/power

Not that one either. The XR2 transmissions are cable operated and your car is hydraulic. Look for one from another escort GT or a Protege with a BP.

1st off find out what's wrong with it. Have a tranny shop look at it. It might be something simple or just a clutch issue.

all these guys nailed it! The 1.9L/2.0L SPI trans is a G15MR, and has a different bell. XR2 trans is cable clutch.
