That looked like quite an awesome trip and well worth it for that festiva

    1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

What a fun adventure!!!! That's one of the neatest looking festys I've seen yet. Where does one find a front bumper like that?
        Because....45 MPG.

WOW! What great photos! I would like to hear the story about all your junkyard visits! Nice ride!

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

Yeah you might not want to bring up the junkyard visits. While he did score a couple of cool items. He was definately hoping for more. Especially after hitting so many.
I personally had to laugh because it is kind of funny, but I know I would have felt the same way he did.

What Monsoon is referring to is I probably hit 40 or so jys, not including the dozens I called, and really didn't find anything until Nebraska, where I scored the spoiler. I could have made the trip in 2 days, but gambled to take my time, hitting every jy I could find. Of course that meant more hotel and food costs. Awesome to find the spoiler, but really was not the best investment of time. I had a goal of finding 2 spoilers to offset the cost and really was dreaming of finding 6. Then it would have been well worth the trip. Of all the yards I hit, I probably found 15 Festys total. Other than the one I pulled the spoiler off of, the rest were ready for the crusher. I only found one Lx and it was in Salt Lake City, piled 3 high, luckily it was on top. The only thing salvageable on it was the left power mirror, which, ironically, I needed, so I can't complain.

The one thing I noticed was the amount of XR2s with turbos sitting in jys in Cali. Many! Problem was, I didn't have the cash, tools or knowledge to invest in them. Alot of Aspires in every one of the jys, but never saw an SE. If a guy had a truck, a pocket full of cash, and a couple weeks of free time, he could drive to Cali, hit all the Pick n Pulls and really score alot of rustfree sheetmetal at a good price. The stuff they scrap out there is the stuff we dream about here in Iowa. Oh, and seats! $12.50 seat days while I was there. Any seat for $12.50! Maybe score some high end Beemer seats or whatever for a Festy.

You'd have to get a ton of stuff to offset the cost of the trip, but I think it would be plausible.

              SOLD----Levistiva for $1500
              Bought her back for $450
              Now that's darn near priceless!!
