Why wont the 4 speed auto from a 91 - 96 Escort GT work in our cars?

way too big, even the 5 speeds are hard to jam in there and the autos are bigger... and then there's the question of what to use for axles. If I did it I would probably go with a complete MX3 drivetrain, motor and all. But I don't have the money for that right now, not to mention I'm currently welderless, and I think any swap like that would take a bit of welding
