  • an over due update for my festiva.

well i have wanting to do a update on my festiva for some time now and, im bord so... the last time you guys got to see it was when i enterd it in the FOTM. now some changes have been made and it looks alot better and has beed made alot safer too lol... my biggest upgrade was a lug-to-stud kit and my new rims/ tires from a 1986 toyota mr2 and a bit of a alinment to fix the crazy steering lol...

i have added 2 new gauges, a cheap volt meter and a nice autometer tach from "festivawes" THANKS!!!

and i made a new rear cargo shelf out of ply-wood but forgot to take a pic of it, it has two 6.5 inch pinoeer speakes like these:

and a light from a motor home under it to light it all up, im gonna run a solid power wire to the back so it can have the light on with out having to turn on the key or anything, then im also gonna have a 12V socket in the back to run anything i need (cell phone charger, lap top... ect.)
and a copple small thing that dont need pics like new floor mats, air freshener, a coating of rainX and new to me junkyard wiper blades...
and most of my time has been spent in porting my head. i took some pics of the before and some how "lost" them... i dont know how, but i did... here is the after pics:
    intake port:

    exhaust port:

the intake port was a good port to start with and most of the work was done to the short radius of the port and the tear drop part of it, i fetherd out the injector path to make a smoother flow. i think i made about a 10% increase on the intake side, but on the exhaust side there was a MESS of junk that needed to be take away... the short radius was not round AT ALL so that got rounded out and the side of the port had about 1/3 of a inch exsess metal in there... so that got taken out. over all i think i did abot a 50% increase on the exhaust side, i still cant belive how bad the exhaust side was... if some one has a pic of the ports before porting could you post them up please?
here is a shot of my painted block:

    and the oil pan:

and i have a copple shots of the intake manifold before i port that too, but ill leave those for when i have some after shots too and ill try to get some pics of that rear cargo shelf too.
    thats about it... thanks.
    mike.

ok here is that rear cargo shelf:
junk in the trunk lol... top:

            under side:

            and the quick connect plug:

ok today i too off my door panals to take some pics of my door locks and then thought i would finaly put in those door speakes to solve the problem of allmost all rear sound lol.

the speaker mounted in the door:

the hardest part of the job was making my brain think it was ok to hack up my door panals lol...

then i glued back the flaps to make it look nice and then back on it went it looks kind of bad up close but when you back up it looks good lol.

there is still window crank clearance too

and the last update on zippy today

look at how much dirt came out there tho.... how the heck dose it get in there lol.

thats it for today. im gonna port the intake manifold tomorow

Looking pretty good, not a huge fan of the lights on the roof but if it saves another festiva from animal damage then why not. The rear cargo shelf looks good. Are you going to cover it?

my door speakers are 6.5 inch smae as the 4 in the trunk and then there is 1 set of realy cheap 4 inch ones in the dash. and i am gonna cover the rear cargo shelf but i just need to find a nice fabric that matches the int.

ya just a 1/8 inch shaft dremel from princess auto... i would have liked the 1/ inch shaft one but it was more money and i dont need one that big for everyday use, but it would have been nice to use while porting that head.

Lol those things don't look too terribly safe...

The car's looking REALLY good though... I still think you should aspire swap that nice white car that's hanging around on your property out of the goodness of your heart!
