  • Red Rebourne

Well I haven't made a page on "red" yet since i am the new owner. I am in the process of brake/suspension repair. I'm not too concerned about the rust issue as of now. I'd just like to get it running like a top first.

Here are some misc. exterior shots. All i added was a a set of left and right side mirrors. Smoothie tails are going to come off. I like the newer style better.

Next pictures of the body side mouldings removed and the adhesive that Fred left me to take off! Oh and the RUST!

Next set of pictures is the disassembly of the rear and front brakes. Everything now is getting sand blasted or being bought new.

I have a couple broken bolts to extract. Hopefully i can get this done fairly soon.

Chances are that your ajusters and wheel cylinders are locked up TIGHT! I broke the ebrake cable at Fred's house pulling it as hard as i could!

Finally finished the brake sandblasting, still have the sway bar, wheels, some misc. brackets and stuff to do. Big "ups" to my wife for letting me borrow the screen from one of our windows in the house so i could sift the "play ground" sand that i bought at Lowes.

Well here is the equipment i have. The pot sandblaster is by far way more powerful than the cabinet, the cabinet doesn't work that well with the sand anyways because of the dust visibility factor. I got all the parts 99.9 percent rust free now. Planning on taking them to get powercoated gloss black, but may paint them myself, don't know yet. What do you guys think?

The calipers will be getting a fresh coat of red caliper paint...for contrast mainly! Wheels will be done in a stock silver color. Sway bar is getting re-done like i said...maybe red too.

The wheel wells will be powerwashed off along with the under carriage when i pick it up with the forklift at work. At that time I'll be undercoating a majority of the underneath minus the exhaust and other vital parts.

I'll have more pictures tommorrow...wheels and everyhting else. I'll be picture taking the whole brake rebuild so some of our members can use for a reference when doing theirs.

Taking old red one step at a time. By the time the STL meet comes (hopefully you can come) it'll be one of the most clean/nice ones the road. Hell by that time two will be ready, and I'll own another one?!!
