I was thinking that i can't justify spending 85-100 bucks on powdercoating the spindle/beam and backing plates. Plus i was worried about build up around the holes and such.

So i went to the parts store and picked up some primer and paint, and caliper kit. I'm still working on it at the moment, but this is some updated pics as of where i am at. Hopefully I'll be able to re-assemble here early this week and have it all installed and bled by fri/sat.

I am going for 2 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of paint to get the build protection i need. I won't be driving it much in winter weather, but better safe than sorry.

I've been working in my clustered garage, been raining outside

Looks like a lot of good work! Is this all stock festiva stuff, or aspire stuff?

I'm sorry, I don't want to seem rude, so don't think I am when I say this.

Why go thru all this work for stock brakes? Couldn't you just do all of this to aspire brakes and have an aspire brake swap?

I have intentions of swaping these to another festiva that will be completely stock. I have another aspire swap waiting to be installed.

Why go thorugh with all this work...because it's preventative maintence. Plus it looks nice.

If this type of stuff was done to begin with...they may not have gotten to the point they were when he got the car.
Besides...if all is in working order....the stock brakes stop pretty damn good.

the calipers will look sharp once back on the car - I have a kit of blue for my aspire swap once I get around to it

I had a black kit lying around somewhere, but misplaced it. I agree they are going to look sharp!!! And that can of paint will do 10 calipers...
