Random July photo thread!

I haven't seen an adult female before. I didn't realize they differed. I caught a big male with a pair of pliers by the wing. He wrapped himself around the pliers a couple of times. When I let go his wing just straightened out and off he flew! They are as tough as adults as they are a larvae. Man I fished with one helgramite for an hour and a half one time. I caught 6 medium - small river fish. None over 8". The helgramite was elongated by 2 times. the hook had pulled through his whole body through his skull and he was holding on (dead of course) by his locked pincers! Best bait EVER!!
