Nice pictures Paul. I love the family shot. What's the white bird. Is it a duck? goose?

Thanks Jeff! The family shot was taken at the end of the first leg of my tour. I got to take my family to the Knoxville zoo. The bird was here in Salem VA in the Roanoke valley. I think it's a duck but I'm not sure. He thinks he's cool with his "wig". Bizarre!

I've been to the knoxville zoo. It's been a while but we really enjoyed it. I think it was June of 1997. (I guess that makes thes pictures a little out of place in the July photo thread ) This chimp/monkey played peek-a-boo with my daughter. He'd duck out of sight then jump up and bang on the windows and run back and forth until Christen found him. Then he'd duck out of sight again. She doesn't really remember it but I'll never forget it.

Here is a field of tractors. It was a tractor junkyard. It was huge, the pic was taken from the road.

                    • This guy came floating into the garage while I was giving #19 a tune up. He was really light weight. I could tell from his flight. It was effortless.

This is the star in Roanoke it is the second largest man made star in the world. Here is the Wikipedia entry on it.

The Roanoke Star, also known as the Mill Mountain Star, is the world's largest freestanding illuminated man-made star, constructed in 1949 at the top of Mill Mountain in Roanoke, Virginia. It was the largest star ever assembled until the El Paso Star was completed in El Paso, Texas.[2] However, the Mill Mountain Star still holds the claim to world's largest illuminated man-made free-standing star, as the El Paso Star lies flat on the ground. After construction of the star, Roanoke was nicknamed "Star City of the South"

I took it tonight after working on #19. A little reward.

And the view of Roanoke tonight from the star.
