Thered56, mine was an 89 F-250, 5.8L, got about 8 mpg going downhill.
Don't even want to talk about when it was pulling the mountains. Ugh. Still it was a good truck, I used it for what I bought it for (hauling about 12 tons of crap away from my parents place) and sold it. Which was always my plan. I've got a friend here locally, who does custom decals. May see if he thinks he can pull off a set of hockey sticks, if I can't find a set anywhere else. He used to be a fellow festiva fanatic, but the whole family got rid of their Festivas and went to Beetles. Funny thing is now all the beetles are up for sale, and he's asking me if I know where there are any good Festivas for sale.

MJD, Yeah, plan on throwing the rustoleum paint job on her at some point. Actually, the paint that's on her is not in bad shape, just got some serious clearcoat peelage. At this point, just want to get her cleaned up, legal, and on the road!

To Levitan and Fattie, yeah, I noticed the missing heat shield as well. Might look for one of those as well when I'm out today. Tho, due to the carb change, and no need for the heat from the manifold to help the choke adjust, not sure how necessary the heat shield actually is at this point.

Except for the stripe on the one side, it really does look/feel like when I brought Batstiva home.

Getting the inside cleaned out some. Never made it to the j/y. Don't really want to go into why except to say Mr. Tire is right up there with Midas in my book now. Anyway, decided to work on the car a bit. Got all the trash out of there, discovered I had a full size spare in the well. Always a nice find. Discovered the missing front speaker grills under the passenger seat. Did a preliminary wipe down of the inside. Hope the pics actually show the difference, but I pulled the seat covers and am in the process of cleaning the seats. Stopped to take a before and after picture. Hope you can see the difference. Don't really have a shampooer, so I'm kind of stuck with a stiff brush and a bucket of tide + water. And elbow grease. lol. Wax on, wax off, Daniel-son. Changed the oil, air filter, fuel filter, and pcv. Oh well, back at it. Got one more front seat, and the back seat to do, then she gets an outside bath.

Don't mind the floor. She'll get a good vacing out too. Debating whether I want to pull the carpet, and clean it the way I did Batstivas. Which turned out really nice.

Thanks. Kind of debating what to do with the inside door panels. Both have tears around the door handle. Could pick up a better set, but I'm thinking of getting some material (not sure what kind yet) and making them look like sport doors. Gotta play around with that a bit. Don't know if you can tell in the one pic, but she's already got her own Hayne's. So that makes 3 now. 1 in each car, and one at the computer. Guess that's enough.:p

lol. I guess something is better than nothing, eh? The rips aren't bad, if you look at the inside door handle, they run out about 1.5 to 2 inches from the four corners of the handle. Batstiva's did that too, just not as bad as these.

haha...mine was a '77 F250 on 35's with a engine rebuild that made it far too pleasant to push firmly down on the throttle...I bought it for both 4x4ing and transporting tools and lumber...only made it out in the bush once and got out of construction, then I went for a Festi!

Your Festi's lookin good there though. Hope you got the issues sorted out (whatever they were).

I'm with thered56, you HAVE to get the driver's side stripe.

Really nice car, shame about the clear coat.

Okay, well nice to see things haven't changed much. Got done with the seats, got all my washing stuff out, been storming here for the last several hours. Used to be able to work up a storm pretty much anytime I wanted by washing Batstiva. Guess the new one's going to be the same. Hopefully tomorrow.

thered56, no real issues, just minor things I want to have the way I want them. What I really want to do is get a good look at the carb set up, maybe do the same thing with Batstiva, when she gets to that point. But I'll worry about that when I get to cleaning the engine bay.

Definitely going to get the hockey sticks back on both sides. I'm really okay with the clearcoat issue, tho, at this point, I kind of wish it would all come off. Make prep work easier. Even if my guy can't actually make them like original, pretty sure he can make a red set, and black letter separately, and I can put them on, one over the other.

And euro, my order would be 2, 3, 1, but that's the basic idea. Except it has enough small chips, I think I'm going to do some repainting as well. Got a bit of a valve cover gasket leak (surprise, surprise) thinking about painting the vc while I have it off. For those guys who have done it, any special prep work? What did you guys use to clean the surface for paint?
