  • New member and new festiva...so it starts

Hey folks, before i start i just wanna say thanks to everyone who contributes to this site. There is a wealth of info on here people can use if they just use the search button.
    so here it is..
89 LX Auto purchased on Aug 30.
the PO aqcuired it without a grill and a fender, you can see what he did there.
he also said he put 14 inch metro rims on it.

and then the tear down begins

went to the junkyard 2 weeks later and picked up a headlight, the correct grill so i can do the grill mod, 2 steering wheels(because i wasnt sure which i would like better), and escort mirrors

    interior out and being cleaned

door panels out..was just gonna clean them, but theres no hope. will just make new ones

didnt like the brown color. so a color change is in order

    courtesy of

i bought out all the medium gray duplicolor from autozone and they say they arent gonna get any anytime soon, so i took a trip to lowes and tried out Valspar meduim gray, so far it looks fine.. maybe a little darker, but they have tons of medium gray there.
    8/19
engine is out, havent decided to go b6, b6t or bp yet.

yeah, so far ive found about 5 festivas in about 3 junkyards around here and they were all pretty much bare or unusuable. 1 even was full of bullet holes!

ive never used duplicolor stuff before, so im wondering myself how it long it will last. i did my whole interior on my 94 impala with SEM in 06 and it still looks fine. the only gripe i have about duplicolor is the 6.98 tag vs the 3.44 valspar.
