I'm afraid of the ones they've got, since the cars are not wrecked. I'm in no hurry tho. I also went to 109. They had 6 festivas this spring, and had been there quite a while. They crushed them all. they had some good stuff on them, but their prices are just too high. I can't understand why they want so much for stuff that does not add much weight and will not make a big difference when they sell it. I did get the LX hatch latch off the one that's there now. And the badge. I see the mirrors are gone. They were there then. Maybe they went to Raleigh?
    Speedbird,

Will be back up in a couple weeks.

Think they are going to crush the Aspires soon.

They were crushing the cars just a few rows in front.

Hope that some folks will contact me soon and go in with some money and labor to remove the Aspire swaps.

Yes they are high on the parts.

The mirrors were 25.00 each, but talked them down to 25.00 for the set.

They wanted like 35.00 for the tach /speed, but got it for 20.00.

Back at Pull-A-Part today for Aspire swap items.

Sam.1956 and I went back to pull Aspire swap items today.

Saw a Festiva and Aspire off 70 hwy on the way up from Raleigh.

Got one Aspire full brake swap set and the Aspire front brake swap off another.

Now Sam can also get his Aspire swap done along with the BP swap next week.

Will be installing the front Aspire swap in my yellow car that already has the rear swapped.

Hope that the 109 U-Pull-it has not crushed the 4 Aspires that were in their yard just 2 weeks ago.

There address is 3459 Thomasville Rd. Winston-Salem, NC

Pictures of before and after of the Aspires that swaps were pulled from today.

Man, that was Mondo Fun today, Dean! Thanx for posting a couple of the pics.

I scored a primo complete Aspire rear axle & brakes (bearings are good) for my BP swap car. Helped Dean pull 2 sets of steering knuckles; all with good bearings. I love the "no rust" cars we are able to find here... you can actually unbolt stuff without an act of Congress having to be initiated. Next time any of you guys/gals in the Rust Belt are down this way, you really oughtta get in on this action.

This j/y is actually "clean" & quite well organized with a huge variety of cars. We've always managed to score a deal on something at this place.

I got some crazy looks from the other junkyarders when I walked in with the 3 foot long torque wrench slung over my shoulder. This thing makes manual removal of the front axle nuts a Piece Of Cake my friends. (I can't afford a really good battery-op impact wrench.)

Another must-have tool is a ball joint separator (< $20 from Harbor Freight): and no, it's NOT a pickle fork! (That comes in handy to separate the LCA's ball joint from the knuckle.)
Sheesh, we were major bone-heads before we got the separator tool, slamming the ball joint stud with a 4 lb hammer & STILL couldn't get them separated no matter how hard we tried. Now that job too is a snap (literally)... shove the separator into the joint and crank down on the screw w/a 19mm socket for 2 or 3 turns and POP! the ball joint is separated.

This time it wasn't 26 degrees out there! Much better than the last trip!

We figure we must be totally crazy: two old guys out in a junkyard going ape over these little cars we find.

Nice score guys. I have to work this week, otherwise I would seriously think about heading down to help out. It a loong drive, but I love a road trip. Plus I have a Bro in law in Raleigh. No aspires in yards around here that I know of. I need a full swap too. Rust is def. an issue up here too. That looks like clean parts. One yard here want $100 just for two rusty front hubs. The axle is gone.

The parts would well be worth the trip.

              David,

Wish you could make it down.

Lots of rust free Festivas parts here in NC.

              I also have a few Econolines 61-67

I have a feeling these Aspires will be crushed soon if not already last week.

They were on the row that is near the crusher last time Sam and I were their.

So if anyone wants a rust free Aspire swap they better move on it.

Sure would like to save these swaps from the crusher.

The 4 Aspires are located at the 109 - U-Pull-IT

Address is at the start of this thread.

They have 4 Aspires and 1 Festiva.

The price I was given is 150.00 to 200.00 for the Aspire swap items and I must remove the parts.

The cars are not in a great location to remove needed axles etc.

May have a deal to buy all 4 Aspire swaps and they will transport all 4 cars out to a area were the items can be removed.

Looking like 125.00 each times times 4 cars for 500.00 will get the swaps.

Price could may go to 150.00, but still trying to hammer out the deal.

Problems is once they bring the cars out, they may just crush them after the axles are removed.

Didn't see any rust issues with the Aspires. Pictures are at the start of this thread.

If anyone wants these don't wait on me.

Get yourself over to 109 and get them.

If your coming from out of state I could even go with you next week to help remove the axles.

Call the yard and make sure the Aspires won't be crushed before you drive their to get them.

                Dean,

What if I paypal the $125-150 to cover the cost to pull an aspire swap? And I give you another $75 or $100 for your trouble at ohiostiva or if I take a little vacation roadtrip to come pick it up.

If that sounds doable pm me.

Not sure if time is going to allow me to pull all of them without help.

Will see what I can do.

4 more Aspires & 3 Festivas found today in NC

Sam and myself didn't feel much like working on our projects today.

Decided to check out a few other yards around the state.

Sam scored two white face tachs along with some mirrors.

I got the front tow bar off a Festiva along with a nice grill.

                        Pictures below.

Going to see if a copy of this tow bar can be made.

Forgot to take pictures of the other two Aspires.

Thanx for posting the pics, Dean! Man, I could not believe there were TWO white face tach's in one j/y! One car was 9/20/89 build date & the other was 10/20/89. Kool! Those cars both had 5 speed tranny's and little rust. The custom tow bar was gravy!

I managed to find matching model (not color!) electric mirrors (1 driver's, 1 passenger's) from two of the many Mazda Protege's in the yard. These are the ones like the Festy electric mirrors. Aero baby!

3 Festy's & 4 Aspires in this yard. Little rust, and some good parts to get. Better come on down & get in on this before stuff goes to the crusher!

We're making another run to this yard in 2 weeks. Anybody who wants to join us, PM Dean (V8Festiva) and/or me.

This last yard has a couple 5 speed Festiva transmissions and several Aspires.

Anyone that would like to meet up and go parts pulling Jan 9th with Sam and I come on.

We also found a couple more yards to check out near the one with the Aspires.

I want a clean aspire swap in the worst way, lol.

1993 Festiva L, aspire swapped, selling parts for a BP+T build.
