While my kids were coloring, I sketched this. I will probably never vertical the window on mine, but I am in the process of doing this paint job.

Square mirrors
I have the bottom color on the car, I did that 50 to a 100 dollar roller paint job, I am going to try to get the top color this weekend. I think I am going to do square mirrors and mount them to the hoo instead of the side. I might need some welding help, I saw on a motorcycle show where the took small square bar, heated it and twisted, that might look good for the mirrors strut.93 Festiva GL

Its pretty simple to do - you clamp the one end of the stock in a vise and grab the other end with a set of long blacksmiths pliers and twist it to how many ever twists you want - you need to get the rod cherry red also watch your twists you want to keep your rod straight as you twist - this may take some practice - also you may have to make a couple twists and reheat. You can make a neat look by twisting the square stock and then reheating to a lighter cherry and lightly hammering the corners of the twists on an anvil - if done right this will give the stock the appearence of being round. complete your twist in a straight fashion and let it cool then reheat to make it fit the curve you want to hold your mirror.Originally posted by Breedlove View PostI have the bottom color on the car, I did that 50 to a 100 dollar roller paint job, I am going to try to get the top color this weekend. We have been in Ohio the last couple of months, I haven't had the heart to change the location on here yet. I don't remember that mountain, but the mountain we lived on had four names depending on who you asked. Man, I miss iit just talking about it. We use to live in Memphis too, and there is a ton of places that do that oldschool iron work.93 Festiva GL
