I have a 2.25" pipe with a high flow cat and a 36" glasspack (went up from a 30") ending in front of the passenger's side rear wheel and it's too loud/raspy. I'm going to try a 12" magnaflow resonator and an 18" hushpower muffler under the tunnel and see how that works out. Maybe I should just go the cheap way and have a muffler at the back and forget about the pipe coming out of the side.
Id keep the long glasspack underneath and put a muffler in the back. It'll pretty much always be loud if its coming out the side or underneath. Besides, side exhaust is pretty hick, trust me.

Why would it be loud if it has a good resonator and muffler? Now it's loud because it only has a glasspack. If it's too loud after trying the hushpower and resonator, I'll just go with a more traditional setup.

And, just the fact that we drive a Festiva is pretty hick, trust me. It makes no difference where the exhaust exits

            Uhhh thats skeeter, not me.

I DID use to run side exhaust on my tbird. First when I got the car the cat back was completely shot, so I had an exhaust shop run a pipe out the drivers side from the cat.

Then after a while the inner hick came out and I took the stock Y pipe and ran pipes out in front of both tires... with the cat gutted.

The whistle from the turbo was awesome but I set off a few car alarms with it!

Matter of fact, heres an old clip I made of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGaw3husq-Q

I eventually found a nice deal on a 3 inch setup with a magnaflow and never looked back.

Correct, never intended for anyone to think it was you!
Was to show you a skilled Festiva mechanic, who in no way resembles a "hick" runs and likes side exhaust!

So what would you consider my side exhaust then?

Nevermind lol, were getting way offtopic here, sorry Perucho.

I'm doing a side exhaust on mine, did one on the Toyota and will be doing one on my upcoming toyhauler project (2000 Chev 3/4 ton, sale arranged for next spring). But i wear the red on my neck as a badge of honor.

Anyway, I'll post pictures of the bumper when it's painted. Hopefully in the next couple weeks.

So all you need is the cover, not the whole bumper, correct? For both front and back. Does it help to keep any of the push buttons (if they're in the stylus bumper covers)?

Yeah, those plastic plug/screws are junk. They end stripping out and you have to cut them. I picked the bumper cover with only the mesh insert and the lights. I didn't reuse any of the hardware. I used self-tapping screws and pop-rivets to mount it.

IMO they aren't meant to be used like screws, just take a small screwdriver or knife and pop out the middle then pull the whole thing out, simple as that. The first one I did strip and got pretty pissed, the rest are in the same shape before I messed with them and that goes for the front bumper I swapped on the festy.

thanks Lane for the info on that.
