Here's some pics of my Savage with the 50mm objective. You can see how close the objective is to the barrel and how high the eye piece is off the stock. I love the scope...........it's just too big for the gun, OR, I need to get an aftermarket stock with a higher cheek rest. I think I only gave like $60 for the scope new off of Amazon. The optics are pretty good & I love the adjustable objective and red/green illuminated reticle.

most of the stuff ill be doing with this rifle is gonna be bench/prone long range target shooting, so i would like a high zoom scope to get close to the target... but im gonna leave it for a while till i start running out of zoom on my long range shots... i want to bring it out to the bush and see if i can out to 400 yards with this thing (400 yards and hit a 12" plate is my goal...) and yes ill be filming it, IF i can do it lol...

EDIT: wow that 50mm lense looks huge.... im glad i didnt get one that big, i guess ill stick with the 40mm ones... thanks for posting that

Ha! Anyone know what the midrange trajectory of a .22LR is at 400 yards?

Might be a foot or two...not that there's anything wrong with that...

(I should be so lucky to have access to a 400 yard range.)

Lets see... at 400 yards with a .22LR you could probably use a 12" bowl to catch it, right? I'm thinking it may be dropping faster than it is flying!

          ;-)

kidding of course, but only a little!

            lOVE .22 AND 17 hmr !

I did this one a couple years ago, savage 17 HMR stainless action/ barrel , aftermarket trigger, stock and stuck a Redfeild scope on it. You can shoot paint balls off of golf Ts all day long with it at 100 yards ( The scope is now on my .50 BMG and holding up well)

big day planned for tomorrow... packing up the gun, spotting scope, gps, camera, some friends and their guns, then gonna go pick up another brick of ammo, random stuff to shoot, and the head out in to the mountains its gonna be a good day, i can feel it

after a few hours on google maps, i think i have found a good shooting spot, no buildings or anything close and it looks like is has a few good spots for some distance shooting.... i guess we will find out when i get there... the marker point is just roughly where i will be going... check it out...

.17 hmr is like shooting a laser. You need one of those if you want to make a "sniper" rifle

nothing has changed on the .22 other than lots of rounds down the pipe...

but the new gun is very fun (bad rhyme lol...)

its a remington 870 magnum "deer gun" and its awesome other than the fact the front sight fell off and i cant find it and the rare jam cause of the cheap ammo... i love it

and here is my guns with with my friends winchester sxp defender, sks and le-enfield...

my friend is making a vid of us shooting and stuff so ill post up a link of that when its done...

also, has anyone with an 870 had this problem? its happend to me twice now, when im loading it up if the shell lip dosnt catch the shell stop in the mag tube it will slip under the guide and cause a jam... the only way that i can get it out is to take the mag tube apart and push it down the pipe with a knife cause i cant get my fingers down there... its very anoying... is there anything i can do? other than be more careful lol....

i have an 870 express, are you pushing the shells in far enough to catch? of is it catching then popping back out? you gotta hear that click to know its being held in the tube

ya they miss the catch and dont "click" but they should go above or stop on the guide, not slide under it i thought these things where fool proof lol...
