  • Spring activity at the Ranch

Some pics of spring activity at the ranch.
Started building some raised bed in the garden. Been dragging downed log up and fitting to size. Probably end up with 10 to 12 raised beds. Planting taters soon. The one with the big logs is for compose.

Also been clearing out an area that has a rock outcropping in it. Trying to expose the rock and make a pretty spot out of it. It was so overgrown you wouldn’t be able to walk through it.
    Before:

It was so choked up nothing was growing on the ground , the brown/green line shows where I started.

Some later but not finished pics :

Cool finds while working: several strange rock formations, bird nests, narly root balls.

Ill find something cool to do with the rocks, note dirt and wood pile in the background.

Location of the next beer and bonfire meeting

Anyway , thought Id share, its nice to outside again after winter, I think I’m knocking some rust off my lower back, it feels like it .

Nice land! Any Deer or Hogs to hunt? Someday...if I live long enough, I hope.

Oh yeah, those raised beds are double dug by hand :naka:

I also did some festiva related stuff. Sorted through 3 boxes of hardware. Should be easier next time to find the piece Im looking for. Its a small dent but something at least.

I wish I was your neighbor. Between festys, animals, gardens, photography, and outdoors in general we would have a blast. We'd be in competition for every festy in the area though.

                    X 2 , we would have a blast !!

Built three and a half more beds yesterday. With finding the logs, transporting the logs, cutting , notching, and placing the logs plus double digging the bed , three/day is max speed. Cant wait to see all that home grown goodness coming up through the soil. Heard yesterday that food prices rose 4 % last month mainly because of rising fuel prices. Im planning on freezing, drying, and canning as much as possible this year. Thinking about building some cold frames too so I can extend the season some.

Planting seed potatos and onion sets today. Hoping to get at least 50lbs of taters from 5lbs of seeds. Cost a little over $5 for the seeds and sets. Bought some lettuce seed too. The lettuce should be ready to harvest in about six weeks. Ill stagger the plantings so it doesnt all mature at the same time.

Added some new lighting to the shop today. It had been like a cave. Added eight, eight foot fixture. really brightens up the place , still have three yet to finish.

It works out where Ill have two 8' fixtures over a current project. Needed that.

Yes it is, Ive addressed the correction to the problem in another thread. What do you expect from a $100 festiva ? Got the paint, waiting on the paint installer. Thanks on the shop, it would be better if it was better organized, working on it.
