Are you sure that diverter valve isn't in backwards? Every BOV/Diverter valve I've ever seen has had the pressurized side connected to the fitting that's inline with the BOV cylinder... that way the pressure spike acts upon the face of the piston, not upon the side of it.

Well lets figure this out because I have the same valve. I assumed it went in the way Fred said. I'll do some searching later.

I really do not think it would make a huge difference how it was installed :?

Im just happy i dont have to switch that because i spent like 30 minutes stretching that damn hose onto that thing

If it was hooked up the other way then the boosted air will push on the BOV spring and along with a drop in vacuum the valve may open too early.

Matt not necessarily because the "vacuum line" will be pressurized and will keep the valve closed. But it will have a faster response if The pressure side is the bottom because you will have vacuum and boost pushing the valve open where as the other way you only have the vacuum opening it and pressure pushing on the side of it. I guess that's why Fred is saying having it in the side is wrong but i do not think it makes a difference.

i do not think that boost will open the valve unless your running like 25 psi

The valve would never open because the pressure on either side of the diaphragm would be the same at full boost and full throttle.

Ian, having it hooked up the way it is now will make it open slower since you are relying on just vacuum to pull the piston open to vent the pressure spike. This is bad because there isn't enough flow through the tiny vacuum hose to pull it open quick enough. The turbo will slow down because there will be no where for the air to go for that split second that the valve is opening. If you had it installed the way I'm saying, the pressure spike would push up on the diaphragm, and in addition to the vacuum line pulling on the diaphragm, it would open much faster.

I see what your saying but the diaphragm is going to be pushed open with the side port too because the split second that the valve starts to open air will rush in the side and force it open. since its a diaphragm and not a piston the edges are rounded and it does not sit to far down so that will open even easier. I will see how it works out  I just wish i had a data logger

It's impossible for the pressure to force the valve open from the side. All it would do is push the piston to the side of its bore, and not open. When you have the pressure spike pushing on the face of the piston, it acts along the axis of the bore and since its design permits movement in that direction, the piston opens.

I hope. As long as it is dependable it will be there. Still waiting for the exhaust and intercooler piping. As soon as that is done it will be on the road. Then suspension and interior and work the bugs out.
