      You are a brave man poking a spider. I'd have run away like a little girl.

          There was one of those garden spiders just like that on the light outside the door of my dads house a couple years ago. Huge, black and yellow. Theyre all females. The males are much smaller. Its the only spider that I didnt want to kill. All the other ones are nasty brown things. There used to be some out there that would hang between the garage and house at night and it was real easy to walk into them in the dark. Big balls with spindly legs. HATED those things. Maybe thats why they arent around any more. Too much brake cleaner+lighter flamethrower action.

            My defense for biting flys. If Im going for a walk I'll grab a shake shingle from my stash outside the front door. I knock the hell out of them when the start hovering around me, its very satisfying hearing that little pop when you smash them to the ground. It reaches those spots you cant reach with your hands too like between your shoulder blades.

              Sorry but that thing would have been TORCHED!!! I don't care how good they are said to be Karl......If it stays away from anywhere I am...it can live. But if it is near me....it WILL BE DEAD!

              As far as seeing...they can see just fine. Had one stalking me from across a room once....it did not survive (after I screamed and cried).

                        Nice! I am looking at getting this one ---> http://www.canon.ca/inetCA/products?m=gp&pid=4714

                        Check out Snapsort! I love this website! It compares cameras and I used it to decide the 60d was the right one for me (was originally thinking the T3i, but the site pointed out some key features I would be missing!)

                        Take a look here ---> http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_EO...inePix_S1000fd

                        Edit - Sorry, I was not attempting to be nasty by posting a comparison between your Fuji and the Canon.....I was just looking yours up and needed to input a second camera so I chose the Canon I want.......Notice the price difference, not really fair to compare features.......... (even the site points this out!)

                              What wappened was I cut my finger with an angle grinder. I borrowed my bro-in-law's fuji to take pics and was amazed at the quality. He had bought it for $500 new when it had just come out. That was 2 years before. I got one and so did my mom both were about $150 shipped. That's little more than a new point and shoot. I'm very pleased with mine.

                                It's got a Cicadia in it's web, and a tiny looking one at that. I think you're just taking the pic too close.

                                If you really want to convince us how big it is, you need to take a pick with it spanned across your face.
