Now see!! another reason to have a Festiva meet at the ranch in the woods. OH ya BBQed Frog legs. If i wasn't in Ohio i would be headed your way.
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

Markus, I am digging my frog gigs out, and am ready to do some gigging!
I dont think they taste like chicken or fish, they have a unique taste thats much better than either. Bring the gigs and I'll get some fresh batteries for the mag lites. The season ends at the end of this month.

Im sitting here sipping on my coffee trying to get motivated enough to go cut more brush away from the pond again today. After a week of it the allure has worn off. Ive got posion ivy on both arms and neck and my legs are all scratched up from the locust thorns(Im limping some from a locust thorn in the foot ) and multiflora roses. Most of my old joints are sore. I think I could get to the half way point today if I quit burning daylight. Might have another cup of coffee and think about it. The goal is to knock it down enough so I can use the brush hog on it in the future.

That sucks! But it'll be worth it when you are done. Get to the drug store for some relief. The next 2 weeks will be hard not to scratch! :p

Ivy doesnt bother me too bad. Ive got the raised bumps and some rash but it itches little and isnt full blown. The wife on the other hand came down to where I was working and never touched anything but still had a full blown case on her neck the next day. Some of the lovelys Im dealing with below. One puncture from one of those red locust thorns and you could be impaired for a month. Get one in a joint, foot, hand and you'll be lame or crippled for awhile. They aint no joke !!

After picture of one corner. The undergrowth was so thick the grass couldnt get enough sunlight to grow. The ground is bare underneath

My brother brought his bobcat over today. He has a small one. We tried to rip the roots out and drop the trees but there wasnt enough room to maneuver around. Just to cramped. Ended up just making a mess. I dont really want to disturb the bank as much as you would need to in order to get them out. Back to square one. I do have a pole saw, it works great for this type of work.

Guess we could rent the attachment below. He has a six foot grappler once we got them on the ground. Watch the video

The Bobcat Brush Saw attachment quickly removes unwanted brush and small trees.

Just a couple of before/after pics. I’ll still thin out the trees a lot. I’m half way now, maybe ??

Wow, that IS a lot of work! You'll be glad when its done for sure for 2 reasons:
                        1) It'll look great when your done and...
                        2) .... you'll be DONE!! lol

BTW, did you try pushing the trees over by pushing as high up on the trunk as the bobcat could reach? I've watched contractors push trees over this way. It gives more leverage to the dozer/cat.

Your place is beautiful, and getting better all the time.

Frog legs is good eating man And if your wife or you are looking for a good thing to clear up the ivy check out domboro powder. One of the dirt worshippers on the organic farm I used to work at alerted it to me after a nasty reaction I got while clearing out brush. Dries up the weeping & takes away the itch like a charm bro!

                              I like the second reason...!!

I can rent the tree shear below for $220 a day. If I pick it up on friday I could have it for the weekend. Sure would be a good way to handle the locust trees.

Thanks for the ivy remedy. Its been minor so far. Ive had the weeping type before though. Just want to scratch your skin off. Ive poured chlorox bleach on it before. Burns like heck for awhile but dries it up.

Oh man, i've seen those, but never on a bobcat! Sweet.

A buddy and I went bowhunting at a new place once, and the only tree in the spot he wanted to hunt was a locust tree. Well he decided his pruning shears and saw would best the locust tree. :p

You should've seen him when we met up later! He looked like he had wrestled a with mad Bobcat!
