  • Shaved Fuel Door

Finally did the filler work on this fuel door I had welded up the lock hole up on, the filler is 2 different colors because I used regular filler on my base coat, then used glaze for my finish coat to fill in any pinholes or other imperfections left from sanding down the base coat. Turned out well

Wouldn't be too hard, just steal a set up off another car.. I'll prolly just use a magnet to hold it closed. Don't care about having a cable release, this car is going to be bare bones when it's done...

My festiva's fuel door was shaved as well, it has a light spring that holds it closed

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Can someone please post a picture of what the other side of the shaved fuel door looks like? I need some ideas for mine. I have an Aspire fuel door but the catch is quite different than a Festiva.
I have already installed the wiring for the 626 actuator. Always remember that the black wire is the hot and the green is the ground, or you will fry this actuator in a split second.
At the moment, I am considering spot welding part of the Aspire catch to the edge, so that the 626 tensioner will give the door a little push open when the actuator pin is retracted. I want to get rid of the Festiva inner catch.

Here is the front of my fuel door. Here is the back of my fuel door. Both pics show the Aspire door alongside.
