Congrats! They are really great driving cars. I drive Miatas quite often and always love getting back in my Capri, shame Miatas got all the attention and these cars got none, because they are a much nicer car. Mine is stock and will pull along with a stock mazdaspeed. I am also rocking the mismatched red hardtop!

It is curious that I have never seen that model of Capri in the Ottawa area. May be they didn't sell them up here or may be they were overwhelmed by Miata sales. I do remember the predecessor RWD versions arriving here with great fanfare in the mid-70s, especially the 2.8 V6.

Canada didn't get this model. It's basically a 323gt with sporty convertible body and different interior. The cars were assembled in Australia and have quite a few "Capri only" body and interior parts that can be difficult to get at times. Luckily we have Russ to source and scrounge and even build new components for us. These cars must have sold incredibly well here in Arizona and we see them often in the salvage yards out here, and I see a couple a week out on the road ( other than mine that is). My worst gripe about my XR2 is the horrid fuel mileage. I was happy to get 29.5 on my last tank. In comparison my friends 91 Integra (b18 swap) gets mid30's and is faster. Oh well, everyone has a Honda.

It's that damn G-series! haha 5th gear is so low! I'm thinking of doing the 5th gear swap on this one to make it help at least a little bit. I am very surprised on how many people don't like these cars! I think it'd be sweet to do a BPT swap while slamming it on coilovers, wide wheels and fender flares!

I like the capri! I had an XR2 for a short period of time, but I was never a fan of the "three spoke" wheels . Keep us updated on your mods

True, that was kinda back in my "hypermiling" days. That car was pretty much stock except I turned the boost up to whatever the cutout is.

What caught my eye at Kenny's U-Pull (Ottawa) 2 years ago was a convertible with double set of round tail lights. Car had no markings at all but was in the Ford section (no, not even the import section!) and I was curious enough to notice it had a Ford/Mazda 1.8 Twin Cam in it. Russ filled me in on the details long after this particular "Roo" conversion went off to meet it's maker. If only junked cars could talk. This one was intact, un-hit, had been badly neglected for some time, and was likely a product of a divorce property settlement. At the time the car looked entirely foreign to me (nothing familiar except the Ford/Mazda valve cover) so I kept on walking. Now that I know I will make sure not walk past the next one.

lol. Maybe something is wrong with mine. I never ever see above 30, even if I drive very easy. If fact, driving style hardly affects it at all, but it hates cruising above 3K rpm, that really sucks the fuel down and I can see it richen up on my WideBand. that last tank was one of my best and it was 87 oct from Mexico, but I stayed out of the boost and never got above 65. It also gets better mileage in the summer than in the winter (if that's what you want to call the not hot season out here).
