When I finished the brake swap and finally got the little blue back on the road it was much louder than normal... I couldn't figure out why, I mean, its always been loud because the exhaust is rusted out right in front of the muffler, but this time it was ridiculously loud. I kinda liked the sound of it at the higher RPMs, but at idle it sounded like a loping V8 with competition cams or something. I knew there was a gap in the downpipe because I had to make a custom putting together of the BP downpipe and the festiva downpipe so it would bolt up to the cat, and the coupler that I used was about a 1/4" wider than the BP downpipe... so I crawled up under there today to see why it sounded like I was running just a straight downpipe... and this what I found...
Apparently at some point the bolt that I had to keep the coupler hooked up to the down pipe had come out, and the whole thing worked itself loose... so I actually was running a straight downpipe, I just didn't know it. I'm replacing the bolts today and putting red locktite on them, plus I'm tripple-wrapping the area with one of those heavy tin exhaust bandages, so we'll see how it turns out...
On a lighter note, here's the little blue popping a wheelie in my driveway! (just pretend you don't see the jackstands under the front :lol
