Ooooohhhh.... sweet idea!! I have those little sponge donuts stuck on top of my dash, and they're great if the only thing you want is a large coffee. Anything smaller falls out, and anything bigger as you know....
Drives me nuts when I go through McDs and have to rest my pop on top of the emergency break and lean it against the seat. Been looking all over for after market holders to modify, but haven't had any luck.
    Nice work!!
    Cheers!

The cup holder has metal tabs on the side and since I was not worried about damaging the taurus I used a flat head screw driver and wedged it down in between on the sides and pryed and pulled on one side and then the other...pulled it out.
As far as installing in the Festy. I used a plastic mount from a radio installatin kit. Slid it into the collar until it locked on to the tabs and then screwed in just like if I was putting in a radio. You will see four little tabs behind the face plate of the cup holder that you would need to snap off but other then that nothing special.

You can make one easily from a coat hanger. Cut 2 pieces long enough to make a loop for each side, shove all 4 ends into the holes at once, then pull it out. i bought mine (Schoche) at wally world for 5.00 or so though. Those drink holders aren't popular in the Taurus crowd. Most want the storage cubby instead, and drinks don't fit real good in them. Small coffee is about all that you can get in them because of how they sit against the dash. I have a 93 SLO myself. Never use it. Still like the drink holder that I use on the passenger door instead of the door pull. Wife hates it when she is riding there though. It holds 2 King Cokes from Burger King snug.

I hate to bump an old thread but I'm planning on doing this with the new Festiva I'm getting.

I already have the console and radio out of the car, how does the radio mount inside the console? Does it just fit in there? What do you have holding it in there? Basically I'm just asking for a more detailed explanation on how you did the install. Thanks for the info in advance.

you have to do some cutting on the console. The radio sits on the little shelf in the cubby. If you are coming to Ohiostiva you can check it out first hand.
