In this project I also put the car on a big diet, I'd like to get the car down to about 1500lbs or so. Not too much of a stretch, considering the stock car is only about 1700lbs. One of the first things to go was these crappy (and heavy) motorized seatbelts. I replaced all this crap with earlier model manual belts ( all the holes are there) and saved 18lbs right here.
Here is a pic of the earlier car manual belts in place, they bolt right in, however you do need to fab a bit of an extension tab on the bottom. no biggie.
Here I got rid of the pesky rear seat, just extra weight, and the interior of this car was filthy anyway, saved 27lbs, and gained good access to the fuel tank, where upgrades will also be taking place.
In addition to saving weight, I'll be shifting some too, I'm moving the battery to the rear of the car, this does several things, one it frees up a ton of space under the hood (that will be used for a cold air intake box) two relocates weight to the back of the car. This is a pic of the empty spot where the battery once was.
