This is the batterys new location. I got a battery relocating kit from Summit Racing, includes all you need to do this mod, for about $40. I'll also be replacing the battery with a smaller lighter unit, either a miata battery that weighs 21lbs as apposed to the stock 35lb battery or maybe even a BAT battery that only weighs 13lbs!
Also sort of a battery mod, I never really liked the look of the "nose" on the later model festiva grill. So I got an earlier one from the junkyard for a few bucks, and in the process of cutting out the center grill, (better airflow to the intercooler) I took the center section and inserted a bolt from the old backseat seatbelts, and voila, instant isolator block for the battery in the engine compartment.
The next order of business was making room for the future cold air intake ducting for the B6T air intake. The space is already there, you just have to use right. This is the spot under the drivers side wheel well, that holds the late model windshield washer. Out it came and I'll be useing the unit from an earlier car, (they go in the spot where the late model cars airbox is) don't you just love the fact that they left all the old bolt holes etc to mount the retro pieces!
This is the late model Festiva windshield washer reservoir and pump, I ditched this, just a pic to show what it looks like when it comes out.
