And you made fun of me for keeping a gas tank in the car.
No Muscle_Car1, that was me!
And exactly how was an empty gas tank going to help you?

Only the second time I've run out in life.
The first time was in a hot rod, when I would go out racing would only put 2 or 3 gallons in the car to keep the weight down.

So you questioned the utility of an empty gas can too?
Just glad I didn't run out of gas too, Muscle_Car1 would never let me forget that!

Hey, my on board navigational computer took a hit from a localized EMP pulse! I was lucky enough that my ECU was shielded!
Besides, I didn't hear you provide me with an audio beacon!

Damkid - Yanno... I had a funny feeling that was going to happen when you hit the Canada border. I don't know why I didn't say something about it before we left.
Anyways - glad to hear you made it home ok. Now it's just getting the Z back!
ya i didn't think anything of it, my parents knew that we wouldn't be able to cross as well and stupid me, didn't call them to tell them whats going on so they could have told me, oh well, live and learn
i'm workin on arranging a truck and trailer to pick it up and bring it home, hopefully this weekend

yeah, what happened to the Z???
i'm thinking what happened is the clutch material on the clutch plate basically peeled off because the within 10 mins the pedal went from couldn't go down far enough to disengage the clutch to, was up too high to fully engage the clutch, therefore caused it to severely slip
thats what i'm guessing happened but won't know til i get it all apart

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
was it as cold as last years? i think it was like 31 last year. i do remember it was snowing the morning of when i first go up. just a light snow more like a flurry.
I sure am glad it wasn't as cold this year! The curmudgeon I drive has an "asthma" problem under 40 deg that had us stopped twice before we caught up at Mc Donalds on 77. The second "rest stop" was attended by a courteous Ohio State Trooper who was concerned about his health.
I think that he wants us to be Snowbirds and move south for the winter myself. Keep in mind that this is also the same car that my wife loves to drive, but that she says they "come to an understanding" with each other each session. I just consider it to be personallity.

m715,
Post the vehicle profile (engine, tranny, year, AC, Power steering, etc.) and describe the issue under the repair forum and hopefully someone can help.
To save some posting "wiggle the VAF connector" to see if it has a good connection.

If it was only that simple..... Its the 89 carb car, and it may actually be a temp sensor that causes the problem. When I got the car it would only do it under 40 deg and when a low pressure center was moving in with the temp dropping and baro pressure falling like a rock. As the past few years have gone by, it has become a little more dependent on just the temp being below 40.
Anyway, the car runs fine for about 1 hr then goes full rich like someone slapped the choke fully closed. It WILL totally foul the engine to a grinding halt if you don't land the car soon after it starts acting up. It goes so rich that you can litterally pull off a vacuum line to feed air through the base plate and it runs much more like it should, and although there is no shortage of vacuum line to supplement air with, that wasn't really ever an option(was it?)
Stop the car for a minimum of 5 mins, and PRESTO! one more hour of run time! Nothing a Weber, or Jeff D's old carb setup i've had upstairs at the shop for probably 2 yrs wouldn't fix, now wouldn't it?
Anywaay..... that's what I have those other cars around for isn't it? although it does get to be a pain sometimes. Suggestions? C4 has already been ruled out.
Thanks

C4 is for amateurs, it leaves pieces intact!
A nuke is the way to go!
Leaves only radioactive atoms as a residue! 8)
But a pro uses anti-matter!
Leaves absolutely no trace of the offending device.
But 1700 lbs of anti-matter is hard to come by!
Not to mention hard to handle.
