Official Festiva Madness 7 Meet Info and Sign Up Sheet - October 5, 2013

Well, I am having a problem with my Festy. I'm leaking transmission fluid. I had new axels put in 4000 miles ago and the mechanic that put in the axels thinks the transmission is bad and cannot stop the leak at the right axel where it goes in the trans.
I wasn't going to go to the madness but now I have a transmission waiting for me there so I am going to drive my Festy down anyway. 1988lx has one for me and if I need to, maybe I can get it put in there. I don't know much about transmissions and how to take one out and put one in. I'm not sure what's involved or how long it would take. Do any of you know? Does someone have a the tools and know how down there to help me?
I'm not even sure where to put in trans fluid in the 5 speed trans. I think the shop manuel said the speed cable entrance.

Maybe all I need is another seal put in to stop the leak. Which I do not know how to do either.

a seal is a 20 min job, a trans is a 2-3 hour job (depending on what's being done once the trans is out.)

hey muleskinner, check that MTF fluid (even though it is actually ATF)by removing the big speedo cable nut and the 10mm bolt under it, then remove the gear housing assembly in a twisting motion.....this gear housing is your dipstick, even has a min and max mark, remove the rubber o-ring for a easier time going in and out, checking it. hope you make it to the show ok!
And also i'll 2nd FestYboy's comments, with one BIG exception, 2-3 hours in and out IF the stupid snap-in axles come out OK on the first or second try!!!!

Well, I hate to say it(literally I've been talking about madness since last madness and its the only thing I wanted to make sure I did this year) but I won't be able to attend either. One of the full time guys got a hernia last week, had surgery and I'm covering his shift...no problem I had called off anyway to make sure I could still go...then just yesterday the extra guy who works nightshift rolled an S10 and broke a couple bones, punctured a lung, ...he's gonna probably be out for awhile. My boss came down last night around 10pm and basically if I want to go to madness I need to start looking for another job.

Very sorry, I have been looking forward to this all year and I'm tossing.g around the idea of getting a new job but I have kids to think about too. :/

I've made a few plans with some people to pick up and deliver some things, and I've either made arrangements or will arrange something to make it right.

Also if the shirt and decal department wants to go ahead and print up shirts I'll gladly still buy both if them and pay for shipping!!!

Thanks, but I've just about got it all back together now.
Things left to do:
Install distributor cap (should be in today) and connect coil wiring.
Install sway bar/controll arm bushings (they came in yesterday)
Repair Oxygen sensor connector that broke.
Figure out how to fix or replace one of the vacuum canisters on the carb, I think its for the AC fast idle. The vacuum line running to the side of it snapped off.

Depending on the type of plastic you can use "super glue" or an epoxy.
If its polypropylene or polyethylene the only way to repair is the use of a sonic welder or maybe a plastic welder, and even then it mignt no hold.
