  • My New Stereo Setup...

In the back ive got alpine type X 6.5" component system, a 1000W pioneer class D mono amp running 2 10" sony xplod subs, and 4" bolt speakers in front (have infinity's jsut havent installed them yet)

    from the backside

    the amp

the bottom of the decklid, note i retained the brace for strength so it will not sag

thr rear seats folded down... got the subs and box free from a friend lol after buying the components and amp i was broke!

the 4" bolt speakers up front... these will be replaced with infinity kappas soon...

my sony deck, its got the face on the outisde without buttons and folds out to the buttons inside, bought it new 4 years ago... been in 7 cars and going lol... little things also been through 3 accidents!

still gotta run some wiring from each side so i have stereo sound in each headrests of my fiero speaker... one left channel and one right channel in each chair... i might pull the covers and put in some better 4" speakers into each seat...

and thats everything! those subs are crap but theat amp drives them hard and loud lol, i compared them to a kid i know who has 2 12" type r's with a crappy legacy amp and theres not too much difference... i think i may upgrade to a set of rockford 12" power stage 2's for subs but other than that im happy with everything!

    Lookin sweet

Your set up should sound awesome, I saw your speaker lay out. Did you know you can fit some 5 1/4 inch mids in the back seat in those panels? In the back seat you have the arm rest plastic panels. If you are sitting in the back seat with your arm rested on the arm rest where about your elbow is there is a somewhat flat area to cut out a hold for a speaker. I only had to trim a little metal and my speaker fit perfectly. The sound is awesome. It hits due to the angle of sound right into the ears and doesnt have to compete with rear subwoofers or woofers. I just need to cut the holes in my velvet and mine will go back in the car. I will post a pic of the location I speak of tomorrow. I gotta say though your system looks sweet, well done and looks clean.

Yup adaptation is the way to go! My stiva's a mutt too and I love every minute of it... BTW your system probably sounds awesome in such a small open space hahaha.. Just with my 8" sub and 200 watts mine was loud enough for me! And if I were closer I'd wanna grab those components, I love Alpine stuff... (drooling) -Kyle

just an idea, but i'd mount the crossovers under the rear deck instead of on top...thats just advertising to the world that you have a system everytime you park it....and festivas are about the easiest cars to break in to..just a thought.

i have a 90 festy. pioneer 4700 head unit.... 1600w Volfenhag German Concept amp pushing 2 12" Volfenhag subs. my box is similar to the first post here. the box face is the same angle as the back seet so you can fold it down and there are the speekers. the box goes up to the top of the back seet and has a 15 degree incline to the back glass with 2 pioneer 6x9s. it looks like it is all one "box" but each sub and 6xp is seperately boxed internaly. the box covers up the spare area so when you lift up the hatch i mounted the spare to a lag bolt in the middle of the back of the box. i still have enough storage in back for a few small items like my 2 quarts of oil i have to cary bc my festy has over 250,000 on it. its not upholstered yet but im goin to fiberglass it into the origional rear speeker/side dash area. i want to get some real big shag carpet to do the entire interior. my 2 front speekers are going to be pioneer 8s. im goin to fabricate them on the floorboard like one i saw on ff.com with the 32" speeker in back (AMAZING by the way)

thanks! im not quite happy with the 10's as of right now... dont get me wrong they hit hard and people hear me from about 2 blocks away... but i think im gunna need to go bigger, i love the low frequencies and i think a nice high power 15" should do the job... that and it will help eliminate some weight from the huge mdf box in the back now lol...

it may not reduce any weight at all. a good 15 is pretty heavy...maybe as heavy as those cheep 10s and you would have to use nearly the same size box for it as well, depending on the aplication. not a bad move either way....10s suck regardless if they are xplodes or not. lol. i used to have 2 xplode 12s. they are good for the money thats all. you wouldnt be disapointed with a 15. i would recomend a Volfenhag sub. i got 2 and they kick ass. or if you want to reduce size and weight but get that bass go for a 12 inch Kicker Solo Barak. they are square and i have never heard anything hit as hard.

^10's suck hey you really think anything over 130db is relevant? There are alot of high end 10 inch subs that can out perform 12's. Benefits smaller box, less power needed, better sound. I prefer eights for music clarity and accuracy. Anything bigger than a 10 you really are not a audiophile you are a bass head!

                      Thanks

thats right...bonified bass head. thats what we were talking about. he wants a 15 to hit the low frequencies. we werent talking about your little 8s for clarity. and in the spectrum of things (bass head prospective by the way) 10s do suck...their at the bottom of the list. i like to feel my music.

I have heard tens that make 15's suck. But you have to know what tens in what box configuration.

                          Thanks
