Thats exactly how it went down. Ive not drove it in months, just collecting dust so one day I had decided to rear mount the beast, then when I crawled under I noticed the exhaust was broken in several places. Being a bit stubborn I had to come up with a way of showing the car who's boss lol, so this is what I came up with spur of the moment.
I'll get a vid of it asap, but im currently doing the brake swap and my clutch is about as far gone as it can go and still move I have a fresh replacement inbound from specclutch.com, thanks matt, i'll see what i can come up with in the mean time.

I was told a turbo wouldnt work with the MAF meter, they said it would just slam it shut. How did you get by this? Because I'm wanting to do the same thing.

It woks perfectly. Just have to put it inline before the turbo and no worries. The only thing is there comes a point where the MAF is just full open at all times, but this engine cant move that much air at full rpm to reach that point. Should you swap for a larger displacement engine you may need to switch to a GM style 3" MAF. They are interchangeable with each other with some basic harness splicing, DSM guys have been using them as a stock upgrade for years.

Actually it's a VAM (vane air meter).. Ford used them years ago along with other OEMs. My factory 2.3 turbo SVO Mustang runs fine with one! Whoever told you that is misinformed..........

What I have is a tb0357, it is used in a Saab 900 application, 2.0 liter 16v 1988 model. Is this turbo oversized? Should I look for a smaller one before I start fabbing?

Im not entirely sure of that turbo's specs, without knowing for sure I have to say it will work but you will not get full boost until sometime in 3rd gear.

That's insane turbocharged with B3 engine but 7lbs boosting sound like just might safe than over 10-15 lbs. but good job tweaking with B3 engine!~

I wonder what small turbos would work. Does anyone have an idea of what turbos would work on the B3, and not have to make any ECU or other large changes?

a turbo IS a large change and to be done properly NEEDS and ecu and fuel change.

to do anything else would be like building a WRC world champion rally car from a ford tempo but not wanting to make it AWD or change the engine for something better, your performance gains and reliability without the extra parts will just not be worth the time to try it.

i do know of a couple stock vehicle turbos that would be properly sized for B3 application, but without proper A/F control its going to do nothing but nuke the poor little toaster motors our cars come stock with.

I've been wanting to turbo my Aspire ever since I got it. If I could come up with a manifold it would probobly be done already. Anyways, if its anything like a Miata fuel system (return type) you can just use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator to increase fuel under boost. I'm pretty sure the fuel system is identical to my Miata so I see no reason why this wouldn't work and you can pick one up for around 100 bucks.

id upgrade injectors and find a piggyback of some sort like im doing on my BP, that way you can log everything and see A/F ratios to know your not blowing your motor up with knock.

IdealSociety, what do you think of using a B6 (non turbo) ecu with B6 injectors along with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator on the Festiva motorsports B3? I don't want to do anything crazy with it. It would be nice to have a little more pep in the engine though when trying to traverse this Atlanta traffic. I am NOT going to race the thing hehehe.

wresteler the mitsu turbos are very easy to get a hold of, easy to rebuild if need be, and have lots of options when using that flange.
