can you make a 1.3 fast?

i have been looking in to upgrding the motor on my festiva but would really like to rep the stock 1.3l. my plans are to beat some of the hondas out there is this a possibity with the 1.3 camed, intake, exahst? and are there and turbo kits for the stock 1.3? i have a buddy with a 90 civic hatch with a std 1.5 that i can beat but is it owrth putting money in to my motor.

sorry about the impations. but thats my problem im on a budget and it seems like going to a bp or bp-t would be alot more money and would maybe take away the go kart feel of the car that got me interested in the first place.

i would just go find a b6 or a b6-me, i got mine for only 350$ and it had 70k on it, and you will get the same power that you would get from putting the cam and intake and exhaust. i have the b6-me and i just beat a turbo honda hatch 3 days ago and he was not to happy to see a festiva pulling away from him. lol and i only have around 90 hp

I just swapped mine to a b8. I turboed a stock b3 and the car went 15.8@84. With the b8 on 10 lbs. it went 14.3@95 i built the turbo kit (because noone makes one!) for less than $300, and paid only $400 for a 75k mile 91 protege dx donor car. It smokes 98% of the hondas around here. Look @ eurotiva in photobucket to see pics of my setup.

As for making the 1.3 fast well....that depends on your definition of "fast"

well as far as the budget i plan on having the car for a while so i guess anything is possible. and 350 for a b6 is not a bad deal that is also how much i paid for the car. but is putting the the heavier motor afect the fun to drive factor as far as cornering?

good luck. There are plenty of cars to rob a motor from in the states. Look in forums under n/a swaps for which motors to look for. I went with mine because no wiring harness changes were necessary. No cutting the firewall either. And the b8 is 103hp/113ft.lbs.

1991 mazda protege dx it is a 1.8L 16v sohc you only have to change 1 motor mount hole. I did it in 2 evenings. (6-8 hrs.) bolts right to the festy trans and still have a/c and runs great!
