Festiva Tranny in Aspire

My uncle has a 5speed aspire and this is the second tranny that has went on him and now the junk yards have run out of aspires but they do have festivas so he was wanting to know what is needed to swap a 5speed festiva transmission into a aspire.

i think its like this. correct me if im wrong

-it will bolt up
-use the aspire axles?
-both being e-series you can keep the aspires clutch?
-for the mounts ive read multiple things but pretty much if you have both festiva and aspire mounts some combination will work.( use festiva front mount mentioned most)
-swap sensors
-aspire shift linkage and clutch cable work fine?

did i miss anything?

I bought an aspire from a guy that had a festiva tranny. He had to modify the festiva mount...I think he could have used the aspire mount? not sure though. Opposite of your dilemma but it worked.

Thanks for the link ill show it to my uncle. as for the mounts making one shouldnt be a problem for him. he has his own machine shop

no you don't, just use the mount that's designed for that trans (aspire trans must use aspire mount and festy must use festy) it doesn't get any easier.

No matter how I slice or dice it. I'm coming up @ 1.5" off center. It all fits except the front mount. I'm using a Festy Xmember,Festy rear/front trans mount. I tried the Aspire Xmember.Same thing 1.5" off center. Please let me know if you see or know something I dont. I'm getting ready for plan B-

I'm using both Festiva brackets (Except eng mt)-

The front bracket on a Aspire is a four bolt. I thought maybe someone modified a four hole bracket or only used three of the four holes on the bracket. But thats not the case.The four hole would be a pita to try and modify. I'm starting to think that the person in the previous post twisted the rubber mounts to get them in. I'm pretty sure if I pried hard enough I could get the front one in. But I'm sure it would start to tear very premature. Correct me if I'm wrong,but shouldnt that front mount just drop in when I wiggle the engine & tranny back & forth?

yeah it should... the amount of motion you need to get out of that mount seems a bit excessive. and i take it the aspire trans wasn't under any stress when you removed it? has the car ever been hit?

Yes it took a small hit to the front but it was all plastic damage. Nothing structural. And honestly when I pulled the old one I didnt even pay attention. I thought the same thing you are.But it pretty much came out easy from what I can recall. Well it looks like I'm gonna go to plan B Festboy. If you think of anything plz give me a shout-
